This session will cover both the creation of the latest Practical Theorist and its content. "Addressing the Opioid Crisis through Community Prevention," the 10th Practical Theorist published by CADCA includes the latest information on opioids, a history and the use of the 7 Strategies for Community Change, and case studies featuring the work of two coalitions successfully working to prevent opioid misuse and abuse in their communities. The publication, funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, has been receiving strong positive reviews from community leaders across the country. Come see how Practical Theorist #10 can be a part of your prevention efforts.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this training session, participants will be able to speak to the background of the 7 Strategies for Community Change and how they can address the opioid misuse and abuse crisis.  They will also know about the latest information on opioids, including the different types and emerging trends in misuse discuss successful efforts in addressing opioid misuse and abuse using the CADCA coalition prevention model.
