Willie Mitchell

Board Member

Willie Mitchell serves as President/Interim Executive Director, San Antonio Fighting Back, Inc., San Antonio Fighting Back, Inc. and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.

Mr. Mitchell served as a Trustee of the San Antonio Water System and the Alamo Workforce Development Board. In addition, he served as the Vice President of the Corporation for Educational Development and educational consultant for the U.S. Department of Education Southwest Regional Training Center. He has worked with students in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, New York, New Mexico and Texas to implement a program to prevent and reduce problems associated with disruptive behavior in the home and school.
He also offered technical assistance to participating school districts working with faculties, parents or others wishing to support a positive school environment.

Mr. Mitchell has received numerous awards recognizing his community service at the local, state, and national levels.

Mr. Mitchell graduated from Tennessee A&I State University. Subsequently, he played for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs starting in 1964. He helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl Championship in 1969. He retired from football in 1973 and has divided his time between business, politics and community service.
