CADCA's 2011 Mid-Year Training Institute, being held July 24-28 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, Calif., will feature a working session on logic models. Participants will be provided with a common format that they will use to strengthen their current logic model(s).
Has it been a little while since you gave your logic model the attention it deserves? Maybe it is time for a logic model vacation. Bring your logic model(s) with you on your trip to Anaheim for a logic model makeover! This one-and-a-half-day session will stimulate the minds of analytical thinkers, take the fear out of the fearful, and excite the indifferent about using logic models to guide coalition work. Training segments will be combined with on-site application and presenter feedback, producing immediate results. You will walk away with an updated and effective logic model and a plan that will improve your ability to make the case for your coalition’s contribution to community-level substance use outcomes.
This session is appropriate for beginners with little experience constructing logic models as well as advanced, and anywhere in between. “A good coalition logic model can bring so many benefits to a coalition. We know that logic models can be overwhelming for some people. For those people who feel comfortable with them, there is always room for improvement. Our goal is to make this simple and fun. We want people to walk away feeling a whole lot better than they did when they came in,” said workshop co-presenter Andrea de la Flor, CADCA’s Evaluation and Research Manager.
CADCA’s Mid-Year Training Institute is the only intensive, coalition-specific training opportunity of its kind, providing in-depth courses specifically designed to address a community leader’s biggest concerns and obstacles. “CADCA + Coalitions = Formula for Community Change,” the theme of CADCA’s 2011 Mid-Year Training Institute, provides an opportunity for you to attend a variety of lecture and “lab” sessions to expand your knowledge in prevention science and improve your skills in implementing evidence-based strategies. These in-depth courses are relevant for established as well as emerging coalitions. Half-day to two-day courses have been planned in eight subject areas:
• Coalition Fundamentals: From Fluid to a Solid Foundation
• Partners: Bonding Your Coalition’s Building Blocks
• Environmental Strategies: High-Risk Settings That Shape Behaviors
• Advocacy: Reaching Critical Mass at the National, State, and Local Levels
• Social Media: Mixing Mediums to Share Your Message
• Evaluation: Developing Formal Proofs to Support Coalition Value
• Sustainability: The Phases of Diversified Funding
• Coalition Innovations: Experimenting with Emerging Trends
Be sure to check out the courses within each track.
Registration is open.
