Coalition resources: Strategic Prevention Framework

Mobilizing a community behind a common cause does not happen easily. It takes work to mobilize and engage people and there are no one-size-fits all techniques. It's more than getting people to show up at a meeting; you need to inspire them to take the next step.

Sit in on the discussion during CADCA TV’s "The Art of Community Mobilizing" from 1-2 p.m. EST July 22.

Find out what has worked for some coalitions and what leaders of CADCA's Coalition Institute recommend. Learn the difference between community organizing and mobilizing. See how a coalition in New York City has mobilized and is making a difference.

CADCA TV is hosted by CADCA’s Mary Elizabeth Elliott, the Vice President of Communications, Membership, and Information Technology. This program will feature guests Jane Callahan, Director of CADCA's National Community Anti-Drug Coalition Institute and CADCA field experts Michael Sparks and George Vasquez.

Coalition leaders will find the program useful, especially parents, teachers, law enforcement, community leaders, health professionals and others. Learn the difference between community organizing and community mobilizing. Find out how the concepts for action can help you mobilize. See the steps to doing the work. Discover how to build relationships with residents.

Public and general access television distribution is also encouraged.

CADCA TV is available via satellite over C band and the DOD/DETN satellite networks, private network carriers and selected community cable access stations. Shows are also available as a webcast via the Internet for those without satellite access. Only one point-of-contact from each coalition needs to register for each viewing location. Final satellite coordinates and webcast links will be provided to all registered site coordinators prior to the broadcast date.

You can join this special broadcast at no cost from any site with a satellite dish having C-band capabilities. All viewing sites must register in advance to receive the necessary satellite coordinates. To register, contact Ed Kronholm at 877-820-0305, dlnets@aol.com or via web site.

The broadcast will also be available on CADCA's site.
