Would you like to create stronger youth leaders for your coalition? Then, send your youth coalition members to CADCA's National Youth Leadership Initiative (NYLI), at CADCA’s 2011 Mid-Year Training Institute, July 24-28 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, Calif.
The NYLI is modeled after the National Coalition Academy, which was developed by CADCA's National Coalition Institute. During the multi-day training, youth work side by side with their adult advisors to learn how to help their coalition be more effective in creating meaningful changes in their community.
Youth learn about the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), how to create logic models, strategic planning, developing interventions, advocating for change, evaluation, and sustainability. The NYLI experience teaches what is required to create and nurture the growth of committed leaders and their work within coalitions. Meanwhile, through the process youth gain leadership skills that will prove valuable no matter what career path their future takes them.
After the NYLI “experience,” both youth and their adult coaches come away better equipped to develop an action plan that clearly defines the strategies that young leaders will carry out to address the problems and goals that the coalition is striving to affect.
Can’t get enough of our NYLI “experience?” CADCA offers statewide and local NYLI training customized to your youth group’s needs or local conditions on a fee-for-service basis. For more information about hiring CADCA in your area and attending the NYLI at our Mid-Year Training Institute, please contact kvonbrook@cadca.org or call 800-542-2322, Ext. 233.
