We've all heard the adage that "a picture is worth a thousand words." If that's true, your coalition can speak volumes through photo and video sharing websites. On June 16, 2010, at 3 p.m. EDT, the CADCA National Coalition Institute will continue its social media webinar series session focusing on using photo and video sharing websites to help tell the coalition story. The session is the fourth in a six-part series on how coalitions can incorporate social media into their communications/marketing plan.
Stories Beyond Words: Using Photos and Video will explore several of today’s most popular photo- and video-sharing websites, including Flickr, Photobucket and YouTube, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. It will incorporate ways to utilize these social media tools to enhance how you tell your coalition’s story, illustrate areas of the community that need improvement and help create the vision of what your community can become.
The one and a half hour session will include specific examples of how community anti-drug coalitions are using photo- and video-sharing sites to inform and engage residents. We will discuss what having a “viral” video may mean to a local coalition and how local groups can create a buzz among members, stakeholders, partners and funders.
Expert presenters for the series include: LaDonna Coy, MHR, CPS, CDLA, New Media & Prevention Specialist, Learning for Change; Jason Verhoosky, Community Liaison/Youth Program Coordinator, DanversCARES; and Thomas A Workman, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, University of Houston-Downtown, Production Section Lead, John M. Eisenberg Center for Decisions and Communications Science at Baylor College of Medicine .Sue Stine, Senior Manager, Dissemination and Coalition Relations for CADCA’s National Coalition Institute will moderate this session.
Before and after the session, coalitions can ask questions and join the conversation on social media by joining the Social Media Group on Connected Communities.
All coalition members and stakeholders are welcome to attend part four of this Webinar series on June 16 from 3-4:30 p.m. EDT, regardless of whether they participated in previous sessions in the series. Register for Stories Beyond Words: Using Photos and Video.
