Starting Sept. 3, CADCA is requesting online submissions for workshop proposals addressing the latest research findings, cutting-edge program successes, lessons learned or problems solved for our next National Leadership Forum "Coalitions Moving Forward: Mapping the Future," Feb. 7-10, 2011 at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.
The Secretary of Education has proposed 13 priority areas that the Department of Education may use for any appropriate discretionary grant program in fiscal year 2011, as well as future years.
The latest results from the National Evaluation of the Drug Free Communities Support Program found that coalitions funded by DFC grants have not only been successful at reducing drug and alcohol use in their communities, they have also increased the perception of risk for marijuana, alcohol and tobacco use among youth.

Prescription drugs are being misused and abused at alarming rates throughout the United States. As part of their efforts to address this problem, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is sponsoring a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on September 25. On that day, the DEA will collect potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction at sites nationwide from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
