Issues: Recovery, Treatment

To help spread the word that recovery from addiction is possible, CADCA will be taking part in Pro-Act's 9th Annual Recovery Walks! event on Sept. 25, 2010 in Philadelphia, where thousands will walk 1.5 miles through the historic city center. To make a bigger impact, we want you to join us! The first 20 who agree to walk as part of the CADCA team will get a free t-shirt!

The rally is the hub event for National Recovery Month and is being co-sponsored by A&E’s Recovery Project. The event will take place on Sept. 25th, at Penn's Landing in downtown Philadelphia. Thousands will walk from the Delaware River waterfront past the icons of our nation's Independence. They will show their support for individuals and their families in need of treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, celebrate those in recovery and honor organizations providing prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. Proceeds from the event are used to support community activities, educate the public and media, raise awareness, fight stigma, provide individual recovery support, and advocate at the state, federal and local levels.

Pro-Act is a grassroots organization dedicated to helping people affected by substance use disorders and their family.

Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Register for Pro-Act’s 9th Annual Recovery Walks! event.

2. Let CADCA know that you want to walk with us by emailing Amanda Bouley at abouley@cadca.org.

Please let us know by no later than Sept. 16, 2010. Remember that the first 20 who let us know will get a free t-shirt. After that, t-shirts will be available for $12.

For more information about the Recovery Walks! event and to register, visit http://www.recoverywalks.org/index.cfm.

For questions about walking with CADCA, contact Bouley at 703-706-0560, Ext. 257.
