Coalition resources: Got Outcomes

Has your coalition used data-driven strategies to successfully fight substance abuse in your community? Has your coalition contributed to community-wide declines in substance abuse? If so, CADCA invites you to apply for a Got Outcomes! Coalition of Excellence Award! All applicants receive customized technical assistance and feedback on logic models and data presentation and get tips on effectively communicating their coalition story and outcomes to funders and other stakeholders. The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, June 30th, 2010.

CADCA seeks coalitions that:

  • Collect and utilize local assessment data to drive their decision-making
  • Use logic modeling to paint a picture of their community’s identified substance abuse problem(s) and how the coalition plans to address them
  • Implement comprehensive and feasible plans based on local data that include program, practice and policy changes
  • Have local evaluation data demonstrating progress and contributions to positive community-level changes in substance abuse-related outcomes

Coalitions may nominate themselves for one of the following three awards: (Click on award categories for complete award descriptions)
Milestones (intermediate outcomes)
Coalition in Focus (long-term outcomes for a single substance)
Coalition of the Year (long-term outcomes for multiple substances)

Applying to this award is a two-phase process. In phase I, coalitions provide their logic model(s) and communicate their story (Assessment, Capacity, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation). CADCA selects applicants for Phase II which requires coalitions to expand and refine their story, emphasizing assessment and outcome data. All applicants receive feedback and technical assistance throughout this process. CADCA invites all Phase II applicants to present their successes during the poster session at CADCA’s 2011 Forum in February. Poster presenters receive free registration to the event.

CADCA conducted two online application workshops with 2009 winners. The workshops walked coalitions through the 2010 Got Outcomes! application and answered questions. Click on the dates below to view the recording of each session:

  • Wednesday, May 5
  • Thursday, May 13

CADCA is happy to provide technical assistance on your logic model and data presentation as well as answer any additional questions you may have. Please contact CADCA’s Evaluation and Research Department at 1-800-54-CADCA (1-800-542-2322), ext. 245 or send an e-mail to evaluation@cadca.org.
