The 2009 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions (formerly the National Coalition Registry) is now open! Since 2005, over 2000 coalitions have participated in this effort. The Annual Survey is the source of coalition information for the field. The information in the survey is available to coalitions to network with each other and is used by CADCA to advocate for the effectiveness of coalitions to prevent substance abuse on a community-wide level.
What the Annual Survey can do for your coalition:
• Makes your coalition eligible to be involved in some innovative projects. Most recently, the Survey was used to select coalitions to participate in a project of great significance – the Community-Researcher Partnership project. This project, funded by NHTSA and supported by NIAAA, NIDA and CDC, is a ground-breaking project to forge strong connections and collaborations between coalitions and scientists. Only coalitions that completed CADCA’s 2008 Survey were invited to participate in this initiative.
• Provides your coalition access to valuable networking information. By completing* the Survey, your coalition can utilize the Annual Survey Reports. Consider these questions: Are data showing that prescription drug abuse is on the rise in your community? Are you struggling to get the business sector involved in your community? Use the Annual Survey Reports to find other coalitions in your state that have successfully involved the business and for-profit industry on their coalition or are implementing effective practices to reduce prescription drug abuse.
• Puts your local coalition on the map at the national level, too. CADCA offers the Annual Survey results to Congress to advocate for the continuation of funding appropriations to support community anti-drug coalitions and to promote coalitions as vehicles for comprehensive community change!
CADCA’s Annual Survey is for all coalitions fighting alcohol, tobacco and/or drug use in their communities – you do not have to be a member of CADCA to participate. Participation in CADCA’s Annual Survey of Coalitions is free of charge and completely voluntary. Additionally, the Annual Survey occurs every year - so if your coalition has participated in the past, this is the time to update your information for the current year. If your coalition has never participated in the Annual Survey, this is your opportunity to join a nation-wide effort and the only survey of coalitions in this country.
Your yearly participation increases our collective understanding of coalitions, what makes them effective and how they change systems and environments to contribute to reductions in population-level substance abuse outcomes.
Complete* the Registry by December 28, 2009 and your coalition is eligible to win:
• Free 2010 CADCA National Leadership Forum registration (2 prizes)
• Free 1-Year CADCA Coalition Membership (1 prize)
Complete* the Registry by March 1, 2010 and your coalition is eligible to win one of the following prizes:
o Free 2010 Mid-Year Training Institute registration (2 prizes)
• Free 1-Year CADCA Coalition Membership (1 prize)
*You must COMPLETE the Annual Survey to have access to Annual Survey results and be eligible to win one of the prizes.
