    There are only two weeks left to complete CADCA’s 2011/2012 Annual Survey of Coalitions before it closes on Thursday, May 31. CADCA’s Annual Survey is for ALL coalitions fighting alcohol, tobacco, and/or drug use in their communities. This is THE source of information for the coalition. If your coalition has not yet participated, don’t miss out on this opportunity to contribute to the only comprehensive survey on coalitions, which provides coalitions with important networking information, informs CADCA and the coalition field, and supports CADCA in advocating for prevention funding for communities and more.

  • New Report Shows More than One in Five Pregnant Caucasian Women Smoke Cigarettes

    A new report shows that 21.8 percent of pregnant Caucasian women age 15 to 44 currently (within the past 30 days) smoked cigarettes. The study conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) also showed that cigarette smoking levels among pregnant Caucasian women were significantly higher than the levels among pregnant African-American women (14.2 percent) and pregnant Latinas (6.5 percent) in the same 15 to 44 age range.

  • CADCA Participates in District of Columbia Underage Drinking Panel

    Over the last three years, the D.C. Department of Health’s (DOH) Addiction, Prevention and Recovery Administration (APRA) has worked to develop a strong prevention infrastructure focused on mobilizing community organizations and leaders to address substance use and abuse in the District. As part of a grant funded by SAMHSA, CADCA works with APRA to train community leaders from local prevention centers using its comprehensive community problem-solving framework. On May 7, APRA’s community-based initiative culminated in the first D.C. Prevention Leadership Forum, held at Gallaudet University’s Kellogg Conference Center.
