Since its inception 20 years ago, CADCA has issued (and will continue to issue) Legislative Alerts regarding funding and authorizing legislation that the field needs to weigh in on with their congressional delegations. Now, CADCA has launched a new kind of alert – an Executive Branch Alert – to notify the field when action needs to be taken around specific policy, regulatory and other issues where the action is in the Executive Branch.
For example, CADCA could issue an Executive Branch Alert to notify the field that they should comment on proposed regulations regarding healthcare reform implementation or parity. It may also issue an Executive Branch Alert when the field has the opportunity to comment on things like SAMHSA’s Strategic Plan.
For its inaugural Executive Branch Alert, CADCA called on the field to sign the petition urging the Administration to ensure greater emphasis and support for drug prevention, which CADCA posted on the Administration’s “We the People” website. If you haven’t already, please respond to this call for action by signing the petition right away! If our petition garners 25,000 signatures by Nov. 4 then the Administration has agreed to discuss drug prevention and issue an official response.
