CADCA's Public Policy Team has been working diligently with a host of other national addiction and metal health groups on healthcare reform (HCR). CADCA is specifically developing proposals to try to get substance abuse prevention included in HCR. To that end, we have developed a two-page document including the full continuum of substance use and abuse prevention in all aspects of healthcare reform (HCR). It contains sections titled:
- What Do We Want
- Principles To Achieve This
- Why Substance Use/Abuse Prevention Belongs In HCR
- How Substance Use/Abuse Prevention Is Cost Effective, Saves Lives And Reduces Medical Consequences
- Why It Will Work
- How To Include Substance Use/Abuse Prevention In HCR; and
- Conclusion
To view a copy of the two-pager, please click here . CADCA encourages all coalitions to utilize this document in their own local efforts to make the case for incorporating substance abuse prevention in HCR.
In addition, we have developed a sample resolution in support of appropriately including the full continuum of substance abuse prevention in healthcare reform, for coalitions to try and get passed by their local government. To view a copy of the resolution, please click here.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact David Kurosky, Public Policy Associate, at dkurosky@cadca.org.
