Some of the hardest sectors to get involved in your coalition are the faith community, businesses and media. How would you like to network with coalitions in your state that have successfully included these sectors on their coalitions? The CADCA´s National Coalition Registry provides coalitions with exactly this type of information.
For example, according to the 2006 National Coalition Registry, 26 coalitions in the state of Texas have media involved on their coalition to help plan/carry out their coalition strategies. Communication efforts are critical for sharing not only the results of your coalitions work with the larger community, but also implementing valuable media advocacy, social marketing and social norms campaigns. If you’re a Texas coalition, wouldn’t it be helpful to be able to connect with these coalitions and learned what they did to get media involved?
When it comes to the business sector, Ohio has 27 coalitions in last year’s Registry that indicate that they have the business sector involved in their coalitions. Illinois has 20 and Tennessee 12. The faith community is a valuable asset to your community, but coalitions don’t always know how to best engage this potential coalition partner. Twenty-three coalitions in Pennsylvania and 25 in California report faith-community representation on their coalitions.
