LEAs across the country are using their funding to implement “science based” programs and to address emerging drug trends such as meth.

LEA Program in Reinbeck, Iowa Reduces Meth

  • The SDFSC program coordinator worked to develop a state certified mentoring program and became a certified SAFE (Substance Abuse Free Environment) community.
  • Funding from the SDFSC program was used to purchase and implement science-based curricula for the Strengthening Families, Project Alert and Life Skills Training prevention programs.
  • The cooperation of multiple community sectors, including the LEA, also helped to create the Get a Grip program, which focuses on youth substance abuse screening, intervention and treatment referrals.
