Membership Benefits

Why be a member?

CADCA membership provides individuals and organizations with the opportunity:

  • to expand beneficial community networks and influence the decision making which will affect the present and future of their community
  • to contribute towards finding local solutions to substance abuse and violence
  • to support Public Policy initiatives at both the local and national level
  • to create collaborative partnerships for continued research, training and education in the substance abuse and treatment field
  • to be part of the largest nonprofit association working to build safe,healthy, and drug-free communities

Who can be a member?

Anyone can become a member who has interest in supporting local coalitions in the development of partnerships to make their communities safe, healthy and drug-free. Members include: parents, teachers, young people, law enforcement, health providers, the faith community, business and civic leaders, elected officials and concerned citizens. If you are not already a member of a coalition, CADCA can help you get involved.
If your community does not have a coalition focused on alcohol and drug, CADCA can help you start one.

Individual and Organizational (Coalition/Community-based organization, Special Interest Group, Sustaining Member) memberships are available through CADCA. The benefits of membership are listed below.

Individual and Organizational members receive:

  • Legislative updates to keep members involved in time sensitive legislative issues related to substance abuse prevention, treatment, and research
  • Complementary new issues of the Strategizer Series, training publications that offer concise proven solutions to issues facing prevention professionals

Coalition/Community-Based Membership also includes the following:

  • Access to reports from the National Coalition Registry, the leading source of coalition information for the field

Special Interest Group Membership also includes the following:

Sustaining Membership also includes the following:

  • All individuals within your organization may attend conferences at a discounted fee
  • Access to state-specific information through CADCA
  • State updates through a partnership with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). As a sustaining member, the NCSL Substance Abuse Snapshot is sent directly to your email address bi-monthly.

All members have the opportunity to:

  • Extend professional contacts with peers from all over the country at our annual conferences, The National Leadership Forum and The Mid-Year Training Institute. The conferences includes multidisciplinary workshops, panels, poster sessions and discussions with colleagues.
  • Receive training and technical assistance through CADCA?s National Coalition Institute. Created through the Drug-Free Communities Support Act, the Institute serves as both a vehicle for coalition-specific substance abuse prevention policy development and a center for coalition training, technical assistance, evaluation, research and capacity building. Technical assistance, as well as print publications, are available free of charge to all coalitions, regardless of membership.
