NIDA has a large prevention research portfolio that focuses on understanding
factors that contribute to successful implementation of evidence-based
programs and practices. This endeavor begins with the inclusion of practitioners
at every stage of the research process to ensure acceptability and joint
‘ownership’. This course will discuss that process, findings
from those model research programs and Principles of Prevention emerging
from that research. Feedback on other areas of research critical to the
practitioner community is encouraged.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the session participants will (be)
Knowledgeable about the integration of practitioners into the prevention
research process;
Familiar with the current findings from community participatory research
studies;
Aware of emerging Principles of Prevention related to the implementation
of evidence based programs, policies and practices; and
Asked to identify practice related research questions that need to
be answered
