Toolkit

The National Institute on Drug Abuse and the University of Michigan released the findings from the 2009 Monitoring the Future Survey. The survey showed that while there were decreases in the use of cocaine, methamphetamine and LSD among youth, marijuana and prescription drug abuse showed no signs of slowing down. This toolkit includes tools that coalitions can use to obtain local media coverage of these findings, such as talking points, a news summary of the findings and a news release template.

An estimated one in ten teens reports having abused over-the-counter cough medicines to get high. To address this problem CADCA, in collaboration with the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, developed this toolkit to help coalition leaders raise awareness of this issue in their community. The toolkit provides all the materials needed to launch a local prevention campaign, including tools to help educate the community and get local media involved.

The Strengthening Partnerships project is an effort to assist local community coalitions in connecting with local organizations and associations that share a common goal in making the local community a healthier and safer place to live. The project is designed to encourage an influential group of national organizations—those with wide reach into local communities—to become partners with CADCA, and to encourage their local chapters to become actively involved in supporting local anti-drug coalitions.
