With a new year comes a new opportunity to add your voice to the number one source of information for the coalition field - CADCA’s Annual Survey of Coalitions. The 2011/2012 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions is now open for coalitions to participate.

Is your coalition looking for the opportunity to network and track the latest drug trends to develop and implement evidence-based strategies in your community? Coalitions that complete CADCA's Annual Survey by June 30 will not only have access to a comprehensive database of community coalition work, but also be placed in a drawing to win one of three prizes. Survey prizes include a free iPad 2 with Wi-Fi, a one-year CADCA membership and a free individual registration to CADCA's Mid-Year Training Institute held from July 24-28 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, Calif.

CADCA has extended the deadline for its Annual Survey of Coalitions to June 30, providing more coalitions with the opportunity to network and track the latest drug trends to help develop evidence-based strategies for work in their communities.

Coalitions that complete CADCA's 2010/2011 Annual Survey of Coalitions will be eligible to win free registration for CADCA's 2011 Mid-Year Training Institute. As coalitions take the Annual Survey, they are able to walk through various important components of their work in the communities they serve, ranging from member recruitment to planning tools and logic models. By studying their Annual Survey results, coalitions can identify gaps and areas for improvement. Coalitions that complete the Annual Survey by April 28 will have the opportunity to fill these gaps by winning free individual registrations to the 2011 Mid-Year Training Institute held from July 24-28 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, Calif.

In 2005, CADCA initiated an Annual Survey to increase knowledge about the impact of community coalitions on the national level and help coalitions gain a better understanding of their outcomes and current trends in the field of substance abuse. Sporting a more user-friendly look and feel, CADCA is now proud to announce the launch of the new and improved 2010/2011 Annual Survey.

Since 2005, CADCA has utilized the Annual Survey to build a national database of community coalition activities and current trends in the field of substance abuse. While the Annual Survey helps CADCA evaluate its training and technical assistance, it also provides community leaders with valuable data sets and opportunities to participate in exciting new initiatives with CADCA's National Coalition Institute.

This is the final reminder to make sure your coalition participates in the 2009-2010 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions. The Survey closes on Wednesday, March 31st. Let Your Voice Be Heard and don’t miss the opportunity for your coalition to gain access to valuable coalition information and networking tools.

Attention community coalitions: there is still time to participate in the 2009/2010 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions. The information in CADCA's Survey is the only comprehensive source of coalition information for the substance abuse field and informs policymakers of the need for coalitions and their success in keeping communities safe and healthy.

According to the 2008 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions, 67 percent of coalitions report implementing compliance checks for alcohol and/or tobacco sales to minors in the past year, and 64 percent said they helped enforce laws and policies discouraging substance abuse. However, only 17 percent of coalitions report being involved in limiting or restricting location and density of alcohol outlets.

Coalitions that complete the 2009 CADCA Annual Survey of Coalitions are eligible to win a free registration to attend the CADCA's 20th Annual National Leadership Forum, held February 8-11, 2010. The Forum is the nation's largest training for substance abuse prevention, treatment professionals and researchers. This year's theme focuses on what community coalitions do best—mobilize communities and implement grassroots prevention strategies.
