Treatment CAN work, that’s a fact. Regardless of an addict’s drug of choice, the downward spiral that leads them to treatment is often an ugly and dreadful place. Each addict’s road to recovery differs and every person has a different story to tell.

Treatment centers and halfway houses are valuable tools for success and long-term recovery. Treatment is more than just detox. Without treatment centers, halfway houses, 12-step programs and other treatment methods, addiction can be an inescapable and vicious cycle that strips away dignity and self esteem. The disease of addiction has no boundaries and without education and rehabilitation, any opportunity to build a stable life can be lost.

Treatment & Recovery: From Chaos to Control is an hour-long broadcast focusing on the entire treatment process and how halfway houses and treatment centers work with recovering addicts to help them regain and maintain productive lives. We'll hear from experts who are recovering addicts themselves as they discuss their personal stories and why they now strive to educate and treat addicts. Treatment & Recovery: From Chaos to Control will also discuss the importance of treatment within the prison system to help prepare prisoners for a drug-free life on the outside.

Key Points

  • Hear compelling stories from recovering addicts to better understand the struggles of addiction
  • Learn from addiction counselors within the prison system about the process of recovery
  • Understand the difference between treatment centers and halfway houses and why the programs they provide are important
  • See how recovering addicts have established treatment centers and halfway houses for inmates released from the criminal justice system
  • Hear how communities have helped establish halfway houses and treatment centers

Robert Hartmann Jr., Mainstream House CEO; Long Island, NY

Robert Hartmann is in his eighth year of recovery after he says drug addiction ruled his life for decades. Hartmann now devotes his life to bringing this same life-saving opportunity to others. Today he owns and operates five sober houses where he is actively involved in the recovery of all residents, many of whom have come to look to him for support and guidance and have become life-long friends. Hartmann personally sponsors several men in recovery whom he supports and meets with regularly.

He often takes his message of recovery into local jails, detox, and treatment facilities. Hartmann says he subscribes to the belief that anyone can stay clean and sober as long as they possess the desire and "DO" the work.
