Since it was established in 1992 through a CSAP Community Partnership Grant, Cheryl M. Guthier has served as the Executive Director of the Community Prevention Partnership of Berks County (Partnership), in Reading, Pa. The Partnership was subsequently the recipient of a 10-year Drug-Free Communities Grant, and as such, served as the facilitating organization for the Berks County Prevention Coalition which includes as members 34 grass roots community groups throughout Reading and Berks County, school districts, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, social service agencies, youth, youth serving organizations, county agencies, city and county government, colleges & universities, treatment programs, United Way, media, cultural advocacy groups, and business.

Guthier has presented at national and state conferences on coalition building and has been a trainer/facilitator for the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention on comprehensive substance abuse prevention strategies and cross-cultural collaboration. Guthier also served as a national trainer for VISTA volunteers on sustainability and provides diversity training to schools and social service agencies.
