WHAT'S NEW

Thank You for Three Great Years!

CADCA would like to thank Kmart and the Kmart Family Foundation for their pioneering leadership in support of the substance abuse prevention movement.  The Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs provided a model of corporate responsibility, showing the country that no single segment of our society can solve this problem alone, but collectively we can truly make a difference.

We also would like to thank CADCA coalition members, community volunteers and  National Guard personnel for supporting this program.  They gave it life, and without their local grassroots efforts, Kmart could not have touched the lives of millions of children and families across the country.

The Race provided an unprecedented opportunity for CADCA coalitions to gain access to children and parents in their community in non-traditional, fun and educational ways.

Over the past three years, the Kmart Family Foundation has donated over one million dollars to CADCA and its coalition members through the Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs Program.  During the 2000 tour, the average donation for each coalition was $3,500.  In fact, 10 different coalitions reached more than a thousand kids in one weekend!

While the Race has been discontinued, it will always stand as a testament to the impact that corporate America can have when it commits itself to a noble cause. Many of CADCA's members have expressed their desire to continue this program or one like it. We will continue to look for new and innovative ways to partner with and involve corporate America in our efforts to build safe, healthy and drug-free communities.

If you have any suggestions about other potential corporate partnerships like the Kmart Race Against Drugs, please email them to J. Marsh, VP of Meetings and Special Events, at jmarsh@cadca.org.
